Hatley Castle is a National Historic Site, built during the early 1900s. Surrounded by beautiful formal gardens and lush forest, the tudor style mansion overlooks the Straight of Juan De Fuca and the snowcapped Olympic Mountain range.

We have hired luxury bus liners to take guests to and from Hatley Castle for the wedding ceremony and reception.  This is a 30 minute bus ride.

Bus Departs Hotel Grand Pacific: 4:00pm

Bus Departs Hatley Castle: Midnight

We hope that our guests will not drive themselves to Hatley Castle to make sure that everyone has a safe and memorable evening.  If you would like to leave early from Hatley Castle we would be happy to provide you with with the number for a local taxi service. Uber is not yet available in Victoria, BC.

We ask that guests be present during our Wedding ceremony and do not use their phones/cameras to take pictures.  We have hired two photographers and a videographer so that you may act as our witnesses during this ceremony.

Children are welcome to join us at Hatley Castle for the evening. However, we ask that during the wedding ceremony, all children under 12 years old visit the children’s room within the Castle.

We have hired babysitters and setup a kid friendly room full of movies, children’s activities, and food (please let us know if there are any specific requests for food).  After the ceremony feel free to bring your children to both the reception dinner and dancing afterwards to join the celebrations!  If you wish to bring your own babysitter as well we are happy to make arrangements for them.

5:00pm: Wedding Ceremony will start promptly in the Croquet Garden at Hatley Castle

5:30pm: Cocktail hour – Please use this time to explore the gardens and interior of the Castle.

6:30pm: We will be doing a special cake cutting ceremony and group photo inside the main foyer

7:00 – 9:00pm: Reception in the Quarterdeck Ballroom

9:00-midnight: Dancing back in the Castle

Dress code for the Wedding Ceremony and Reception are Black Tie. For men tuxedos are requested and ladies long formal dresses. Please wear comfortable shoes and/or bring a change of shoes as the wedding ceremony will be held on the lawn and the gardens include a few small hills/stairs.

Living in New York we do not have a lot of room for gifts and especially so with transporting them back from Canada.  The greatest gift is having you join our celebration.  If you wish to provide us a gift please look at our registry page for gift ideas and adventures for our honeymoon.

The dinner will be buffet style with an assortment of Gluten free and vegetarian options.  If there are any specific requests we would be happy to pass this along to our caterer.

Why Victoria, BC?

Nicole and David had always talked about getting married on an island or somewhere near the water on the West Coast. It was important to them to have a wedding location that encouraged people to take a weekend away as a vacation and experience the Northwest. They both felt that there were so many family members and friends joining from all over the world that they wanted a location where people could relax and really bond over a few days full of fun events.

As David and Nicole researched, they learned about Hatley Castle in Victoria. The minute David, Nicole, and Nicole’s Mom Sue stepped food on the Hatley Castle property, they knew this was the perfect venue. The property was stunning and full of unique rooms full of personality.

Victoria holds a special place in Nicole’s heart as she grew up visiting the gorgeous Canadian island with her Mom and Grandparents as a little girl. Some of Nicole’s fondest memories are visiting Butchart Gardens and riding the ferry.

Victoria is a treat in the Summer with perfect weather, delicious seafood, whale watching, and the nicest people you’ll ever meet. The exchange rate also is a great bonus as well. We look forward to everyone joining us to celebrate in Victoria, BC this Summer!
